Shaping the Future of Safe Milk and Dairy Nutrition: Experts

Pakistan Dairy Association (PDA) proudly hosted a momentous seminar at the renowned Karachi Expo Center on August 12th, 2023. This high-profile event, held as part of the esteemed FoodAg! First Food and Agriculture conference in Pakistan, showcased groundbreaking insights and innovation in the dairy industry.

Under the theme “Safe Milk and Dairy Nutrition: Shaping the Future,” the seminar was skillfully led by Dr. Shehzad Amin, the visionary Chief Executive Officer of the Pakistan Dairy Association. The presence of distinguished government officials and esteemed stakeholders lent further weight to the occasion, highlighting the significance of our collective efforts.

The seminar served as a beacon of knowledge and collaboration, attracting luminaries, policymakers, and industry titans from across the dairy sector. Participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions and explored cutting-edge advancements in ensuring the safety and nutritional value of milk and dairy products.

Mr. Masood Anwar, Secretary Livestock Punjab said “Dairy farmers play a vital role in the Pakistani economy by contributing to food security, rural employment, and income generation, while also supporting the growth of the dairy industry and providing essential nutrition to the population.”

The event featured a diverse range of presentations and panel discussions, covering crucial topics such as quality assurance, milk safety standards, sustainable dairy production, and the future of dairy nutrition. Renowned experts and industry leaders shared their invaluable insights, fostering an environment of learning and innovation.

Dr. Shehzad Amin, CEO of the Pakistan Dairy Association, expressed his enthusiasm for the seminar, stating, “We are proud to bring together key stakeholders in the dairy industry to shape the future of safe milk and dairy nutrition. At the conference, stellar panel of speakers included Mr. Muhammad Muzammil Khanani, Vice President – DALFA; Dr. Nazeer Kalhoro, Director General of the Livestock and Fisheries Department, Government of Sindh; Mr. Qamar Zaman, Director General of the Ministry of Commerce (Agro Division); Mr. Agha Fakhar Hussain, Director General of the Sindh Food Authority; Mr. Masood Anwar, Secretary Livestock Punjab, Mr. Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, CEO of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP); and a captivating presentation by Mr. Ali Tanveer Khan, Director Sales at FCEPL.

The seminar’s success can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of the Pakistan Dairy Association, government agencies, industry partners, and the dedicated organizing committee. Their commitment to promoting safe and nutritious dairy products has laid a strong foundation for the industry’s sustainable growth.

Mr. Ali Tanveer Khan, Director Sales FCEPL said “Dairy exports create employment opportunities along the entire value chain, from milk producers to processors, packagers, and exporters, thus contributing to job creation and reducing unemployment rates.”

As the seminar concluded, participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and a shared vision for the future of the dairy sector. Dr. Shehzad Amin concluded “Dairy exports from Pakistan play a vital role in boosting the country’s overall economy by generating foreign exchange earnings. The dairy sector is one of the largest contributors to Pakistan’s agricultural GDP, and dairy exports further enhance its significance. By exporting dairy products, Pakistan can tap into international markets, which leads to increased demand, higher production, and improved profitability for local dairy farmers and industry stakeholders.”
