Italian Consulate and University of Karachi signs agreement
The Consulate of Italy in Karachi and University of Karachi signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Academic Cooperation and Exchange of faculty and students with University of Naples L’orientale for postgraduate degree program. Hon. Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Spokesperson and Advisor to CM Sindh for Law and Dr. Shaista Tabassum, the Dean Faculty of Social Sciences were also present at the signing of the agreement. Furthermore, University of Karachi has also established contact with two Italian Universities, namely the University of Perugia for foreigners and University of Udine, Italy through the office of Consul General, Danilo Giurdanella.

The Vice Chancellor, Dr. Iraqi expressed his gratitude to the Consulate of Italy in Karachi for providing this opportunity to University of Karachi and said that this academic exchange would open new horizons for students and faculty of both the Universities.
Italy has also become an important academic destination for Pakistani students where they can avail many opportunities to pursue their dream of higher education and enhancing their professional capabilities. Each year, the Italian diplomatic mission receives more than 1000 applications for study visa from Sindh and Baluchistan. Italian are not only public universities but they enjoy good global ranking in the world.
The CG Giurdanella also expressed his keen interest to revive the Italian language and Culture Centre at the faculty of Social Sciences for resuming the Introduction of Italian language classes. Although most Italian Universities are now offering degree programmes in English but basic knowledge of a native language helps students in assimilating within the local culture and integrate better in the society.
CG Giurdanella also said that this is just a stepping-stone towards bilateral exchange between University of Karachi and Italian counterparts, moving forward the Consulate of Italy would like to connect with more Italian Universities for cooperation agreement as this is pivotal for academic exchanges between both the countries.
