First Woman President of Rotary International arrived in Karachi

Jennifer Jones, the first woman president in the 117 year history of Rotary International (RI), on her visit. While in Pakistan, she also visit Karachi from July 31 to August 8, 2022. Her visit includes reviewing the impact of Rotary’s polio eradication project in Pakistan.
Seven Rotary members and partners will also meet to review the role of women health workers in efforts to eradicate polio in Pakistan. Rotary International and the World Health Organization (WHO) launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988. Jennifer Jones is also the co-chairperson of ‘The End Polio Now’. Since 1985, the eradication of polio from the world has been one of Rotary’s main goals and has achieved significant success.
Rotary launched this campaign at the time when more than 1,000 cases of polio were reported daily in 125 countries, paralyzing, disabling and even killing children. source: biztoday
