EGA’s Youth Council celebrate International Youth Day by renaming street at Al Taweelah
Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas, today announced that the company’s Youth Council have marked International Youth Day by renaming a road at EGA’s Al Taweelah site “Youth Street”, in recognition of the important role young people play in progressing national development, including within the industrial sector.
More than 2,000 employees at EGA are under the age of 35. Last year, EGA recruited over 220 UAE Nationals with an average age of 23 years old.
The theme of this year’s International Youth Day, “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”, is in line with EGA’s commitment to sustainable development. The EGA Youth Council has a;sp initiated a new programme to plant Neem Trees across EGA site every two months. The first section of trees was planted today by EGA’s Managing Director, Abdulla Kalban, Iman Al Qasim, Executive Vice President Human Capital, and young EGA employees.
Iman Al Qasim, Executive Vice President of Human Capital at EGA, said: “Every time we drive along Youth Street we will be reminded again of the important place of young people at EGA, both today and as the leaders of the future. Our Youth Council is central to our drive to empower youth at our company, and equip them with the skills they need for our future.”
The EGA Youth Council, established in 2018, empowers young UAE National employees to become innovative leaders and agents of change within the nation.
