Collaboration is the New Competition: Huma Nassr
Dedicates a corner house to let people collaborate
Shaan e Pakistan (SEP) continuing its promise for the 9th year of creating spaces events and events for this nations upcoming musicians.
“We have a long list of artists that have benefited from SEP events globally. Some times connections, sometimes celebrations and always some collabration. We believe we pioneered the idea of similar brands X collabrations between them back in 2015 and it has really come true. I always said Collabration is the new competition. Finally my words are coming true”.
How and why you get noticed by whom is an unsolvable mystery. Was it the billboard that u saw, the recommendation you got from social media or just because some important person saw you receiving an award in the newspaper.
Whatever it is. It is the talent that is getting discovered through these platforms. Not the other way round.
“Musicians have always collaborated. That’s the beauty of this art, and why I have always appreciated it. Not as a businessman, not even as a listener but rather just a connector. I just feel more world would heal with Pakistani music. That’s also a way of giving back to society. And it creates.
We believe we have cracked some codes, but we still don’t know how to monetize it after 9 years. The simplest one to share is that the right parties need to meet in a setting before they can even think in their heads what collabrations could exist. It is not the existing market, it’s the need of individuals and brands that is not being met. The more they start thinking collaboration rather than competition the better.
SEP this time goes all in on their idea by dedicating a space at the corner of hafiz and tariq in DHA Phase 6. With a weekly calendar of events for the whole year.
We have done events all over the world and what Zee Foundation, our past sponsors and technology partners made us realize is that we are great at putting some very important and relevant people together. And while continuing to do international events, we must focus our energy on creating spaces in the city where this can happen. It was an Aha! Moment. I packed my bag in New York. Left my 14 month old Life. And came back to Karachi again where it all started.
She converted one of her homes into a space for music and art collabrations.
