Wisdom Tree Apex Skill Institute hosts Seminar on Creating a Globally Diverse Curriculum

KARACHI: Wisdom Tree Apex Skill Institute (WASI) hosted Seminar on Creating a Globally Diverse Curriculum on Tuesday, June 4th, at the Pakistan Academy of Letters, located at the Liaqat National Library adjacent to PTV, attendees were treated to a series of engaging and informative sessions. The day began with an introduction and a Qiraat, setting a thoughtful tone for the discussions to follow.

Sohail Saeed Khan, an educator and broadcaster by profession, delivered the keynote address, captivating the audience with his insights on the significance of integrating diverse global perspectives into educational curricula.

Following him, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, former Marine Chief Engineer, Speech Pathologist, Vocal Coach, and Career Councillor renidelved into the key components of a diverse curriculum, exploring topics such as diverse histories and cultures, global literature and arts, and world religions and philosophies. His discussion was both enlightening and thought-provoking.

Next, Mahaynima Memon presented on modern models of inclusive education, sharing innovative approaches and successful examples from around the world.

Prof. Amaar Ahmed then took the stage to discuss the core components of teacher training from a global perspective, emphasizing the need for comprehensive and culturally sensitive training programs for educators.

Although Mairaj Siddiqui was expected to examine the education system in Pakistan, he was unable to attend. Nonetheless, the event proceeded with a lively Q&A session, allowing attendees to engage directly with the speakers, followed by closing remarks from Sohail Saeed Khan, who reiterated the day’s key points and thanked everyone for their participation.

Notable guests such as PTV Head Fida Soomro, Iqbal Sehwani, Hira Soomro, Moiz, Aftab Gilani, Shahzad Ali, Nudrat Khan, Shabana Ahmedani, Sadia Fayaz, Shahzad Ghauri, and many others principals, lecturers, vice principsls, teachers, were in attendance, contributing to the event’s success.

Following the formal sessions, attendees had the opportunity to network and enjoy refreshments. Souvenirs were presented to the speakers and guests, each accompanied by a brief two-minute speech, adding a personal touch to the conclusion of the event. This gathering proved to be a significant step towards integrating global perspectives into educational frameworks, ensuring that future generations are well-prepared to engage with the world in meaningful ways.
