Seminar on “Italy as a destination of Academic Research and Higher Education” held in KU
Dean Faculty of Arts, University of Karachi in collaboration with the Consulate of Italy organized a seminar on “Italy as a destination of Academic Research and Higher Education.” The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the students of University of Karachi and the faculty members about the University portal UniversItaly.
Dean faculty of Arts, Dr. Shaista Tabassum, and the Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi also participated in this seminar. The Consulate staff gave a presentation about the study portal, Universitaly as to how to enrol and the course search. Dr. Saira Ahmed from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Islamabad briefed the students and the faculty about AICS projects in Pakistan, particularly related to Environmental protection and engagement with Pakistani and Italian Universities.
Talking to students, the Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi advised them to learn the Italian language and develop skills that can provide them more opportunities for academic excellence and professional growth in Italy. He also stressed the fact that Pakistani students need international exposure for their academic growth. A few Pakistani alumni from Italian universities also shared their experiences in Italy and advised students about how to enrol and make the most of their studies and stay in Italy.
Italian Consul General in Karachi, H. E. Danilo Giurdaniella, said that he was very impressed by the hospitality and generosity of the Pakistani people and he expressed his interest in opening gateways for Pakistani students. He expressed that very few applications are received from female students and he urged and encouraged the female students to apply and explore Italy for higher education.
Dr. Naeem Ahmed, Chairman Department of International Relations expressed his gratitude and vote of thanks to the Consulate for the visit and informative seminar for the students of the University of Karachi.
