Indonesian Consul General Engages with KATI: Delivers Insightful Address on Bilateral Trade during his visit

DUBAI/KARACHI: The Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi, Dr. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat along economic team visited the Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) to discuss bilateral trade relations with the members of KATI. The visit was marked by a keynote speech delivered by Mr. Syed Johar Ali Qandhari, President of KATI, followed by a speech from Consul General and fruitful Q&A session addressing trade matters between the two nations.
In his address, Dr. June Kuncoro expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to meet with the esteemed members of KATI and reiterated the importance of fostering strong economic ties between Indonesia and Pakistan. Highlighting the historical collaboration between the two countries, Dr. June emphasized the need for further collaboration and diversification of trade relations between Indonesia and Pakistan.
During the session, key statistics were shared regarding the bilateral trade between Indonesia and Pakistan. Despite a slight decrease in trade value in 2023 compared to the previous year, both parties expressed optimism about the potential for growth and collaboration. Notably, Indonesia showcased a significant increase in imports from Pakistan, particularly in the rice sector.
Dr. June also extended an invitation to KATI members to participate in the upcoming Indonesia Leather and Footwear in July 2024 and the Trade Expo Indonesia 2024, scheduled for October in Jakarta. The two expos, renowned as the largest annual exhibition in Indonesia, offers a platform for showcasing diverse products, including textile and exploring new business opportunities.
Recognizing the essential role of KATI being one of the biggest industrial zone in Karachi, Sindh which has a significance importance for the bilateral trade, Consul General reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with KATI and the wider business community in Korangi. Together, both nations aim to explore new avenues of cooperation and overcome challenges to foster mutual economic prosperity.
The visit concluded with expressions of gratitude by sharing token of appreciation from both parties, reflecting the shared commitment to enhancing trade relations between Indonesia and Pakistan.
