Road to Indonesian General Election 2024: Indonesian Citizens in Sindh Province are Ready to Vote!

KARACHI/DUBAI/JAKARTA: An effort to ensure high participation of Indonesian nationals living overseas in the 2024 upcoming General Election in Indonesia, Indonesian Consulate and PPLN held the socialization of the general election in Karachi, 30th April 2023 in Marriott Hotel.
The session was attended by 160 eligible Indonesian citizens registered for voter candidates (DPS). Most of them are Indonesian women married to Pakistani citizens (mixed married). In addition, there are novice voters, namely the children from mixed marriages who are already reached the age of 17 which make them eligible and entitled to use their voting right. They come to the session accompanied by their spouses and family.
The 2024 Indonesian General Election is set to be an integrated one in which the candidates for President, Vice President, and Members of the Parliament (legislature) for the 2024-2029 period will be conducted simultaneously on set-scheduled of February 14, 2024. The session constitutes part of efforts to ensure the number of voting participation to be high by ensuring that every eligible Indonesian citizens registered in the General Election Commission’s (KPU) SIDALIH system. Every Indonesian citizens can check the online data of registered voters through the portal dedicated for the election, www.cekdptonline.kpu.go.id, to make sure that they have been registered to participate in the voting process. The level of overseas participation in the last Indonesian General Election in 2019 remained high namely 96 % of total overseas Indonesian voters.
On his opening remark, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat, underlined that the every 5-years general election constitutes an implementation of democracy in Indonesia where Indonesians, wherever they are, may use their sovereign rights to elect and determine the quality of future national leaders. For the election, the Committee and the Consulate work together to ensure that all Indonesian citizens living abroad can use their rights to participate in the election by adhering to the principles of direct, public, free, confidential, honest and fair.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the PPLN Karachi, Mr. Hidayat Zakaria, deliberated the roles and duties of the PPLN in carrying out and succeeding all stages of the General Election 2024 to be conducted in transparent manners.
The Indonesian people in Sindh Province welcomed this season with great enthusiasm as a part of election process to elect new Indonesian leaders for the next 5 years.
The Indonesian citizens in Sindh Province came to the session accompanied by their Pakistani spouse and family, showed great enthusiasm and their readiness to participate in the 2024 General Election.
